We’ve been making The Middle School Mind Podcast for a few months now and we wanted to make this show all about you, our listeners.

Through our podcast provider, Anchor.fm, we get some basic information about who listens or downloads this show. And after looking at the data, we wanted to devote this to highlight the Top 10 cities in the United States who have downloaded The Middle School Mind!

Let’s jump into our Top 10:

10. Bulverde, Texas

Bulverde is a city in Comal County, Texas, United States and was originally named Piepers Settlement after a prominent German pioneer. The population was 4,630 at the 2010 census up from 3,761 at the 2000 census. The city is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area and is also called “The Front Porch of the Texas Hill Country”.

Three Way Tie in 9th. Bellevue, Washington

Bellevue is a city in the Eastside region of King County, Washington, United States, located across Lake Washington from Seattle. It is the third-largest city in the Seattle metropolitan area and widely characterized as an edge city, a suburb, boomburb, or satellite city.

More than 145 companies have been located in Bellevue; companies currently headquartered there include PACCAR Inc, T-Mobile, and Valve. Jeff Bezos founded the technology company Amazon in Bellevue.

Three Way Tie in 9th. Houston, Texas

Houston is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States. It is the most populous city in the Southern United States, as well as the sixth-most populous in North America, with a population of 2,304,580 in 2020.

Three Way Tie in 9th. Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The City of Steamboat Springs is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Routt County, Colorado, United States. According to 2019 census data, the city had an estimated population of 13,214. The city is a winter ski resort destination, including the Steamboat Ski Resort on Mount Werner in the Park Range just east of the town and the much smaller Howelsen Hill Ski Area.

8. London, Kentucky

London is a home rule-class city in Laurel County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 7,993 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city named “London” in the United States and the fourth-largest in the world. London is also home to the annual World Chicken Festival that celebrates the life of Colonel Sanders and features the world’s largest skillet.

7. Sainte Genevieve, Missouri

Ste. Genevieve is a city in Sainte Genevieve Township and is the county seat of Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,999 at the 2020 census. Founded in 1735 by French Canadian colonists and settlers from east of the river, it was the first organized European settlement west of the Mississippi River in present-day Missouri. Today, it is home to Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park, the 422nd unit of the National Park Service.

6. Brentwood, Tennessee

Brentwood is a city in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 45,373 as of the 2020 United States census. It is a suburb of Nashville, and included in the Nashville metropolitan area.

5. Brandon, Mississippi

Brandon is a U.S. city in and the county seat of Rankin County, Mississippi that was incorporated on December 19, 1831. The population was 21,705 at the 2010 census. Brandon is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is located east of the state capital.

4. Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs is the most populous city in El Paso County, with a population of 478,961 at the 2020 United States Census and is the second-most populous city and the most extensive city in the state of Colorado. It is also the 40th-most populous city in the United States. Colorado Springs is near the base of Pikes Peak, which rises 14,115 feet (4,302.31 m) above sea level on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains.

3. Los Altos, California

Los Altos (Spanish for “The Heights”) is a city in Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 28,976 according to the 2010 census. According to a study from Advisor-Smith, Los Altos is the second most affluent small city in America with a median household income of $235,278.

2. Wenatchee, Washington

Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, Washington with an estimated population of 34,360 as of 2019. The city was named for the nearby Wenatchi Indian tribe. The name is a Sahaptin word that means “river which comes from canyons” or “robe of the rainbow”. Chris DeGarmo former lead guitarist, backup vocalist and songwriter of heavy metal band, Queensryche, was born in Wenatchee.

1. North Ridgeville, Ohio

North Ridgeville is a city located along the eastern border of Lorain County, Ohio. The city’s population was 35,552 in 2020. A west side suburb of Cleveland, North Ridgeville is the fastest-growing city in northern Ohio. It has been ranked the 13th safest city in the United States and the safest in Ohio. Dav Pilkey, author of Dog Man and Captain Underpants, grew up in North Ridgeville, Ohio.

We think kid's voices are under represented in the podcast space. Even though we are leaving, we encourage you to visit Kids Listen. This organization is a grassroots organization of advocates for high-quality audio content for children. The Middle School Mind is a proud member of Kids Listen and, with our show ending, we encourage kids and families to find other interesting and engaging podcasts for kids. Through this adventure, we connected with the creator of Sound Carrot. This website was founded by a father/daughter team with the goal to help younger listeners find amazing children's podcasts. We hope this resource helps parents and kids find other kid's voices that you want to listen to and hear more from. We also believe that kids can create their own podcasts! Last summer we launched a three-part series encouraging kids to make their own kids' podcasts.
